Cogon Systems Chosen to Provide Guidance for Regional
Health Data Exchange Efforts
Pensacola , May 1, 2006 – – Cogon Systems, Inc., based in Florida, was chosen by The South Florida Health Information Initiative (SFHII) to provide program management and engineering services in support of the State of Florida’s FHIN grant program in the South Florida region. The FHIN grant program was developed to facilitate the development of a statewide privacy-protected health information infrastructure as recommended by the Governor’s Health Information Infrastructure Advisory Board in its 2005 interim report to the Governor.
The Health Foundation of South Florida (HFSF) was awarded a Phase I planning grant by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to support the SFHII. HFSF then hired Cogon Systems, Inc. to begin work on the project. Steven E. Marcus, Ed.D., President & CEO of HFSF says, “Using technology to improve health care is a primary goal of our organization. The Foundation is excited about its new relationship with SFHII and AHCA. “
Carladenise Edwards, Ph.D., Executive Director of the SFHII says, “The planning grant is the first step in furthering the national, state and local efforts to improve the quality of health care and to improve medical efficiency through the use of electronic health information.”
“Cogon Systems’ experience in consolidating, collating, and presenting medical data from disparate systems fits well with the objectives of the SFHII. Our goal will be to guide their efforts and assist them in forming the infrastructure for a robust, secure and effective regional data exchange.” says Dr. Huy Nguyen, President and CEO for Cogon Systems, Inc.
A “ Summit” will be held on May 18 th, 2006, for all parties interested in learning more about the SFHII, at the Radisson Hotel in Miami, FL. Details: www.southfloridahealthinfo.org.
