The Virtual Health Network is implemented with basic services that facilitate health information exchange that supports referral management of patients that receive care from multiple providers. These basic services include continuity of care document, patient demographic and administrative information, diagnoses/problem list, providers, allergies, medications, laboratory results, radiology results, previous procedures, and clinical notes. The Advanced Applications Group not only facilitates the underlying technology of our VHN, but develops our own complementary applications and collaborates with a growing list of application partners to develop applications that can ride on the VHN and facilitate value-driven healthcare. An example of a service that might ride on the VHN is a tissue and organ donation notification system to facilitate donor matching within a community.
